LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
Dear Neighbor,
Welcome to the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rotary Club! We are an extension of Rotary International – which unites more than a million people from all continents and cultures, working together to exchange ideas, form friendships and professional connections, and make a difference in our backyards and around the world. Our ideals are centered around strong ethics, fellowship, leadership, and community service.
Our club has a rich history and strong commitment to service above self, our official motto. During the last 88 years, our members have worked to create, develop, and enhance the greater Bethesda community, and much, much more. We have a full calendar of community projects and social awareness serving as one of several bonds that connect our diverse and accomplished membership.
For example, we co-founded and lead the annual Turkey Chase Race – a 38-year Thanksgiving Day tradition in Bethesda, in which nearly 10,000 attendees and runners from all over the world participate in 10K, 2-mile, and fun runs and races to support the Bethesda YMCA and our B-CC Rotary Foundation. We also participate in hands-on projects such as our Children’s Shopping Spree for local children in need and our After-School Backpack Food program. Additionally, our members have partnered to build schools, libraries, clean drinking water facilities, and girls education programs throughout the world. Each year, we provide grants to 40+ charitable organizations and social causes that are important to our members and our community.
We are professional women and men from all walks of life, nearly all types of industries, and (for the most part) all ages! And we come together through these programs, our weekly lunch meetings, and other social and networking opportunities to create life-long friendships while making a difference at home and abroad.
If this sounds like you – we would love to have you join us at one of our upcoming Club meetings or events. I look forward to meeting you.
Yours in Service,
Stuart Barr
B-CC Rotary Club President
